Week 1 Mission

Welcome Reader! This is the very first week of the 11-week mission that I am planning to carry out. Although I would very much enjoy doing this by its own, these missions are created for the Communication Studies 116 class from Bellevue College, co-taught by the two amazing teachers , Bruce Wolcott and James Riggall. I am very fortunate to be attending this course for the next 11 weeks.

As the course goes on, I will learn more and more about the inside-out of Virtual Reality , a new-age catchphrase that is getting more popular as the days go by. My personal mission for this course is to learn as much about Virtual Reality, then apply the newfound knowledge in the Virtual Reality Development Process. I sure won’t be the same person that finish the course compare to who I am now, and I am both grateful and excited for what is to come.

In this Week 1, our mission is to think about some of the reason why I personal enrolled in this course. For your information, I’m currently pursuing a Computer Science Bachelor Degree, yet have not decided whether to obtain it from Bellevue College, University of Washington, or Digipen Institute – one of the most prestigious institution in Washington for Computer Science. I was introduced to this class through my last quarter teacher – Ron Austin- who taught me wonderful things about Web Design that blows my mind in every single lecture. During the last quarter, I also got a chance to meet Brandee and Bruce at one of the guest lectures in Ron’s class, which in a way sparked my interest in Virtual Reality. The more I learn about this topic, the more curious and dumbfounded I feel about the grand scheme of our Reality, thus the possibility that Virtual Reality beholds in the future.

I am taking this class with the intent to further my knowledge in this field, add something interesting to my resume, and maybe even making a few friends along the way. It took me 18 years before I decided that Computer Science might be something I can make a living out of, so I’m doing all I could not to change my mind, again.  My academic goal for this quarter is to Ace this class, obviously, and soon either enlist in the US Army as a cybersecurity specialist or transfer to a 4-year University whether it is UW or Digipen.

I have a ton of interesting stories about myself and my background. yet that will have to wait to be shared as the weeks go on. Besides computer science, I have a 2-year-old Shiba Inu that likes to sleep on my bed and never seems to be out of energy. She has been part of my family since she was 12 weeks old, and sometimes I think she thought she is human like I am xD. I love messing around music production, skating with friends and talk about the meaning of life. Philosophy is a huge part of my life, and has a big influence my thought flow as you will read in the next 11 wees. I’m looking to implement some of my interests into the world of Virtual Reality through this course.

Cheers!

Vinnie
